Alderton, Northamptonshire

Alderton is an English village and civil parish about south of Northampton, and north of Milton Keynes, along a road between the A5 and A508 main roads in the southwest and northeast respectively. The nearest large town is Towcester, about north. The village is famous for the remains of an English Heritage Scheduled Ancient Monument, a Norman Castle, known locally as "The Mount",〔(【引用サイトリンク】url = http://www.foamm.co.uk/ )〕 which was the subject of an investigation by the Channel 4 programme ''Time Team''.〔(BBC news item on the village )〕

The 2001 census〔(【引用サイトリンク】url = http://neighbourhood.statistics.gov.uk/dissemination/LeadTableView.do?a=7&b=797351&c=Grafton+Regis&d=16&e=15&g=473816&i=1001x1003x1004&m=0&r=1&s=1238928626500&enc=1&dsFamilyId=779 )〕 data is grouped with the nearby village of Grafton Regis and showed there were 248 people living in both villages, 134 male, 114 female, in 94 dwellings. The majority of these being in Grafton Regis. In 2009 the estimated population of Alderton itself was 109.
